Women’s Motocross to Debut at ESPN X Games
First-Time Competition Televised Live on ABC
Women’s motocross will be added to the sports line up for X Games 14,
joining the other sports of BMX Freestyle, Moto X, Skateboard, Rally Car
Racing and Surfing. The Women’s Moto X Racing competition will include
10 of the top women motocross racers in the world competing for the
gold medal in the first-time event. SuperPark, which will house BMX and
Skateboard competitions, and BMX Street are also new disciplines added
to X Games 14 that were announced last month.
“Adding women’s motocross to X Games this year is great timing and a
perfect fit,” said Rick Alessandri, managing director, X Games Franchise.

world-class event, and the women’s motocross circuit demonstrates

Women’s Moto X Racing will have a main event consisting of 10 women

competitors, such as 17-year-old WMA Pro National phenomenon Ashley Fiolek,
will be racing a 125cc 2-stroke or 250 4-stroke motorcycle. The
competition will air live Saturday, August 2 at 4 p.m. ET on ABC.

forward in women’s professional motocross. I feel honored to be asked to

Beach Tennis USA 2008 National Tour Comes to Clearwater
Winner Of Tampa Bay Open To Earn Berth In National Championship
NEW YORK, April 17 -- Beach Tennis USA(R), the organization responsible for launching the sport of beach tennis in North America, will hold the second event of its 10-city 2008 National Tour with the Tampa Bay Open, at Club V, 12901 U.S. Highway 19 North, Clearwater, Florida, April 29- 30. The weekend-long event will showcase the top-ranked beach tennis teams from around the country, with the Men's and Women's Pro Division finals scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 20 at 4:00 pm. The event will also feature amateur and junior league play, which will be held throughout the weekend. Newcomers to the sport of beach tennis will be able to learn along side some of Beach Tennis USA's biggest stars. One junior player will also qualify to be "Fuzzy the Mascot" during the pro tournament.

Tata Motors Enters Into Definitive Agreement With Ford for Purchase of Jaguar Land Rover
-- Tata Motors today announced that it has entered into a definitive
agreement with the Ford Motor Company for the purchase of Jaguar Land Rover,
comprising brands, plants and Intellectual Property Rights.
The transfer of ownership to Tata Motors is expected to close by the end of
the next quarter, subject to applicable regulatory approvals.
The total amount to be paid in cash by Tata Motors for Jaguar Land Rover upon
closing will be approximately US $2.3 billion. At closing, Ford will then
contribute up to approximately US $600 million to the Jaguar Land Rover pension
plans.
Commenting on the agreement, Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, Mr. Ratan
N. Tata, said, "We are very pleased at the prospect of Jaguar and Land Rover
being a significant part of our automotive business. We have enormous respect
for the two brands and will endeavour to preserve and build on their heritage
and competitiveness, keeping their identities intact. We aim to support their
growth, while holding true to our principles of allowing the management and
employees to bring their experience and expertise to bear on the growth of the
business."
Mr. Alan Mulally, President and CEO of the Ford Motor Company, said, "Jaguar
and Land Rover are terrific brands. We are confident that they are leaving our
fold with the products, plan and team to continue to thrive under Tata's

As part of the transaction, Ford will continue to supply Jaguar Land Rover

technologies. Ford also has committed to provide engineering support, including
research and development, plus information technology, accounting and other
services.
In addition, Ford Motor Credit Company will provide financing for Jaguar and
Land Rover dealers and customers during a transitional period, which can vary by
market, of up to 12 months.
The parties believe these arrangements will support Jaguar Land Rover's
current product plans, while providing Jaguar Land Rover with the freedom to
develop its own stand-alone capabilities in the future that will best serve its
premium manufacturer requirements.
The parties do not anticipate any significant changes to Jaguar Land Rover
employees' terms of employment on completion.
Jaguar Land Rover's employees, trades unions and the UK Government have been
kept informed of developments as the sale process progressed and have indicated
their support for the agreement.
Founded in 1922, Jaguar has been amongst the premium brands for luxury
saloons and sports cars. Since its very first design appeared in 1948, Land
Rover has always been universally identified as the ultimate in four-wheel drive

2008 North American International Auto Show Public Days Opens With Amazing Exhibits, Attractions, Production and Concept Vehicles
The 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) opened to the public today with jaw-dropping exhibits, amazing production and concept vehicles and exciting, fun-filled attractions.
"From car enthusiasts to kids wanting to see their first concept car, the NAIAS has something for everyone," said Carl Galeana, senior co-chairman of the NAIAS 2008. "NAIAS 2008 is sure to excite and amaze our Public Days attendees with spectacular displays, cutting-edge production vehicles along with futuristic concepts. Don't miss it for the world!"
Public Days for NAIAS 2008 are Saturday, Jan. 19 through Saturday, Jan. 26 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no admittance one hour prior to show closing. Tickets for Public Days are $12 (USD) for adults; $6 (USD) for senior citizens (65 and older) and children aged 7-12 (must be purchased on site). Children six and under are free with their parent.

The magazine's Editors' Choice Awards recognize Best in Show, Best Concept, Most Significant and Most Fun
The AutoWeek editorial staff announced this evening its Editors' Choice Award winners for the 2008 North American International Auto Show during the annual AutoWeek Design Forum, held in conjunction with the auto show.
For more than a decade, the editors of the weekly automotive-enthusiast magazine have scoured show floors in Detroit, Geneva, Paris, Frankfurt and Tokyo, selecting winners in four categories: Best in Show, Best Concept, Most Significant and Most Fun.
The 2008 AutoWeek Editors' Choice Award winners for the Best of Detroit are:
BEST IN SHOW: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 -- "We award Best in Show to the vehicle that we feel will be best remembered five years down the road. Simply put, the Corvette ZR1 is the baddest of the bad. The 620-horsepower machine with carbon-fiber body rightfully takes its place as Best in Show," said AutoWeek Editor and Associate Publisher Dutch Mandel.
BEST CONCEPT: Cadillac CTS Coupe -- "The vehicle named Best Concept is one we're most hopeful to see built. Almost unanimously, the AutoWeek editorial staff selected the CTS Coupe as most deserving of the award. It is the next iteration of the dramatic styling Cadillac has brought to the marketplace."
MOST SIGNIFICANT: Ford F-150 -- "Because Ford brought so many significant vehicles to this year's show, the decision of what vehicle to award Most Significant was a tough one. From the Explorer America, a unibody-constructed, friendlier sport/utility vehicle, to the Verve, the best-looking small car Ford has built for America in generations, the F-150 is Most Significant for what it means not only to the company but to the American ethic. Green Car Summit: Auto Industry Rising to the Challenge
Leading Automakers and Industry Organizations to Discuss Advanced Technologies and Forward-Looking Strategies During Washington Auto Show's International Media Day
-- Answers to some of the most serious challenges facing the auto industry will be explored January 22 at the Green Car Summit during The Washington Auto Show's International Media Day. Presented by the auto enthusiast magazine, Green Car Journal, the Summit will convene at 2:00 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Leading auto industry executives will discuss such challenges as petroleum displacement, fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas reductions and probe the range of responses.
Moderated by Ron Cogan, the editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and GreenCar.com, the auto industry panel will include Sue Cischke, senior vice president of Sustainability, Environment, and Safety Engineering at Ford; Gregory Cesiel, Fuel Cell Vehicles program director at General Motors; Reg Modlin, Director of Environmental and Energy Planning at Chrysler; Tom Strickland, director of Technical and Regulatory Affairs, Environment at Toyota; and David Geanacopoulos, director of Industry-Government Relations at Volkswagen of America.
"The Green Car Summit will address the context of the great effort unfolding in automakers' labs by examining how and when advanced technologies and alternative fuels will make it to the market and which offer the greatest potential for change," Cogan says.
The Summit's second panel, moderated by Washington Post automotive columnist Warren Brown, will garner perspectives from organizations at the forefront of advanced fuel and technology activities. Panelists include Brian Wynne, President of the Electric Drive Transportation Association; Bob Dinneen, President of the Renewable Fuels Association; Jeff Serfass, President of the National Hydrogen Association; Rich Kolodziej, President of NGVAmerica; and Allen Schaeffer, executive director of the Diesel Technology Forum.
Kicking off the Summit, a Green Car Parade featuring a lineup of eco-friendly cars will conclude at the convention center's L Street entrance at 1:45 p.m.
The Washington Auto Show, scheduled from Jan. 23 to Jan. 27, connects the auto industry with the public policy process by uniting Washington's political elite with auto industry leaders. With its theme of "Engineered for the Future," the show provides an important platform for "green" technologies.
